Samhain, mundanely known as Halloween, is the Celtic New Year. It's one of the great Wiccan sabbats, opposite Beltane in the Wiccan Wheel of the Year. Samhain is an important holy day in Wicca and Celtic-based Pagan religions, but is not a religious celebration at all in many other Pagan religions.
