Sounds like a great idea to me.

Popping in to say hi, again.

I am known within the pagan community as Cannaid.

I am half Anishnabe (Ojibway) and half Irish. I spent a great deal of time either blaming one or both of my ancestral lines or exploiting them.

Twenty years ago I committed to sitting at the feet of Anishnabe Elders both within my community and across the continent and spent 15 of those years learning from my Elders/mentors/teachers. Clearly I had (still have) a lot to learn.

Five years ago I made a decision to honour both sets of ancestors and having spent fifteen years with my Anishnabe relatives I began my study of Indo European Celtic mythology and theology (what there is) with an Irish Celt focus. I consciously sought out mentors and teachers and dare I say Elders within this area of study. Simultaneously, my focus has been on spiritual practice. Both mine and the community at large.

I am not enrolled in any Druidic schools and have no intention of joining at this time. Many of the Druid schools/groups carry curriculum that is invaluable to the neo-Druid path and I respect and honour those that choose to incorporate the teachings within their own path.

I walk a path of Druidry because I am of nature.

I find that many of the teachings and "ways of walking" from both heritages are extremely complimentary although my personal struggles are found within the areas that are not similair or supportive to each other. I.e. alcohol as an offering.

I am deeply immersed in the my pagan community which carries folks with diverse spiritual and devotional interests, backgrounds and committments. We work, love, laugh, cry and celebrate life together.

All of my spiritual experiences are and will be based in our/my relationship with creation (read: nature). I can call it Druidry. I can call it Walking the Good Red Road. Whatever I call it I am based within myself, my family, my community, my territory and my universe as a humble helper whom seeks to learn.

I'm 18 years old and am currently studying HND Photography at college and will be studying for a BA and Masters in Photography and Fine Arts in a few years at University.

I started out by being Wiccan, but it somehow didn't seem quite right, so I took a step back and just referred to myself as Pagan for a while.
I ended up stumbling upon Loki by accident a few years back; all that happened was his name had been mentioned in a book - no description about him, who he was, nothing - but I somehow knew he was a trickster and fire god...even though I had never heard of him. There was that instant click, and he hasn't really left me alone since.

He hasn't all been Mr Nice-guy though; there's been a few times I've ended up crying and so close to telling him to fuck off and leave me alone - because I didn't want to see what he was showing me about myself and others. 'Tough love' he'd say, or 'The best learned lessons in life are the ones that make you cry.'

I'm glad now he's stuck about; I'm a much more out-going person, I joke more openly, I've finally found my voice so I can speak my say, I enjoy being me now.
I've learned to take my time when I'm planning out my future; carefully so there's always something to fall back on when it fails.
He's shown me the loyalty in some of my friends and the lack of in others who I had considered much closer to myself (that was a hard blow to me when Loki showed me their true colours. the tears later were proof of that.)
As a result, he's also showing me how I can be a better friend to them. He's also trying to teach me not to lie to myself, or to try and hide behind a mask just to appease people or to fit in.

I know the argument - 'Loki's malicious, he'll stab you in the back. He caused Ragnarok so he's evil.'
I know, and I know the 'risks' and how cruel he can be! But everything about him just felt right to me; he is the opposite of who I was before and he was the balance I needed in my life.
Maybe the fact that I was the absolute opposite of himself was what caught his attention, and he must have spotted some small amount of potential he could work with, so he stuck around.

Without him, I would still be that withheld, depressed, loner who never spoke her mind and followed others aimlessly like a lost puppy, I was a few years ago. He broke me down and all the defenses I built up over the years, and rebuilt me into something stronger.

So here I am, a proud Lokean - even if he has been a bit of a bastard sometimes, but he knows I love him really

Hi,

I'm Rocquelaire. I'm 28 and live in Scotland with my fiancé and five year old daughter.

I was thwapped by Brighid early this year and in researching Her and forming a relationship with Her I found myself drawn to druidry. I've just joined ADF and don't know an awful lot yet so I'll probably be mostly lurking here - either that or asking loads of questions lol.



I'm looking forward to lots of interesting discussions :D

Hello all!!!! I have stayed away far too long, and I can't be more appreciative of Dara's patience. I've had to acknowledge the fact that the switchover to the new board was harder on me than I anticipated, and I kept finding excuses to stay away. I'm surprisingly rigid in the weirdest ways!

At any rate, I'm back, and feeling more comfortable now with the New.

As for my intro here: I started out conservative (albeit unorthodox) Christian. Over a few years of searching, which is one of those long and winding stories, I ended up finding a home in Paganism. Once there, some more meandering happened, ultimately leading me to polytheism. I was attracted to both the Celtic and Germanic paths, and after about a year of winging it, I decided to join ADF. I had liked what I read, felt it would give structure and balance to my personal practice, and felt it would add a great dimension to my spiritual development. I will probably never call myself "a Druid," but I'm really happy to be on this druid path.

I'm 20.
I still live at home.
My house is centered in a 20 acre lot with surrounding woods and a clearing in the woods.
Onto the real reason I am here:
I came across the idea of druidry not a long time ago (6 months?!) First I wanted to learn witchcraft the from witchcraft I started studying herbs and so on (Did not get far...yet) But over this whole span of time something started pulling at me, you know...something told me that I needed to know more...that there was a great wealth of knowledge rooted in the very soil I stood on. Something Called. It was like the feeling of having someone pull the strings of your heart in a good way.

TO this day I still have that feeling but something is telling me to seek out druidry as not just a philosophy but a faith. Coupled with witchcraft I think it could become a great thing for my self and the people around me...is that not what druidry is about. Helping in any way possible?

Well I am a 22 year old from N.Ireland. Like a lot of people I found Paganism at a young age. I kinda always knew about it but really found it when I was 14. I studied Wicca up until I was 19 and then decided it was not for me. I looked elsewhere, mainly looking into traditional witchcraft, and again, found it not to be to my taste. Just over a year ago I found Druidry - I was mildly curious back then but after a few months of it popping up everywhere I decided to look into it further. I have found that so much clicks with me, especially since my ancestors are mainly Irish with a few Scottish thrown in here and there.

I am a member of OBOD, however, I have put the course on hold for a while whilst I do the "Perennial Course in Living Druidry" by Emma Restall Orr, which so far I am finding very inspiring.

I love Bobcat's course on Living Druidry! When my partner first moved out here to Pittsburgh, we spent his first year working through her course together, taking weekly walks through the local woods during dusk, watching the forest grow dark and then sitting in meditation together for a while with just one tiny tealight lit between us. I have very fond memories of that course as perhaps one of the best home-study courses in Druidry I've ever worked through (though I might be a bit biased since I was deeply in new puppy-love at the time ).

I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences on how you're finding it so far.
