I lost a knife that was to be my new ritual-but-useful knife (for cutting cord and whatnot), an antique that we had removed the rust from but needed to replace some parts of and put back together.

I took my pendulum finally, and it led me to somewhere I had already looked (a side table with a bit of mess and in a cramped area), but since I'd really looked everywhere save my husband's toolbox (where I expected to be led to) already I was desperate enough to tear it apart.

Wedged way back into a nook, I found my utility knife.

"This is great," I said, "but I need to find that antique one." Picked up the pendulum, ended up at the same place. Went through everything and whatnot, got confused and frustrated, then found it wedged under the couch, where it touches that table.

Despite my frivolous writeup, this took all of ten minutes.

I've been sceptical of people talking about how they break out the pendulum to look for things, but I'm pleased with this and it is less likely to have been subconscious or chancey than some other locations would have been.
