Does anyone here know of any holidays for Set? If so, do you know when they are?

Thanks

Not exactly historical I don't think, but there's Balls Day.

I got a kick out of celebrating it, and Neb.y seemed to enjoy it also. (Thanks for the idea, Divo!)

I don't know much about historical festivals, though I think one of the Days Upon The Year was Set's birthday.

For Historic Holidays there is of course the third Epagomenal day which is Set's birthday. There is also Wep Ronpet in and of itself. You could also argue that the feast of Zep-Tepi is also a holiday to Set (seeing as he is the tester of one's ability to overcome and perservere through the year that has passed and the year that remains). Granted that's my argument and perspective so YMMV.

A holiday I often honor Set on, and have gotten very positive results on, is Halloween. I mean, what's not to love? A parade of the strange and unusual with revery and drinking and tied to the coming days of the colder fallow times when the scythe cuts down the harvest and winter begins to harken on the doorstep, when strange things and spooks lurk in the land to test the strength and hospitality of the living. It might as well have a glaring red neon sign in his image that says "Party down bitches!" Again, YMMV.

I now want one of these. I like your take on Halloween, too.

(Also I just noticed I misspelled Devo's name in my previous post :ashamed: Sorry about that!)

Can you elaborate where Siuda lists that date? Google is giving me approximately squat for that date (aside from the date of Easter in the 400s), or 17 Peret 4. The only holiday on that date on Kiya's calendar spreadsheet is "Renewing of the Year", which doesn't strike me as glaringly Setian.

Okay, I had a dyslexic moment and looked at 17 March on Kiya's spreadsheet, instead of 17 Peret 4 (which is 19 March on the fixed calendar.) It does list the Procession of Set, under Per Ankh's calendar and Brier's "Ancient Egyptian Magic".

Some more digging also found me this tumblr post; Neos Alexandria lists the "Procession of Set" on their calendar but they don't list a specific source that I can find. (Brier is not on NA's Egyptian bibliography page.)

Well, some sources to look into are:

El-Sabban, Sherif. Temple Festival Calendars of Ancient Egypt. Wiltshire: Liverpool University Press, 2000.

Morgan, Mogg. The Wheel of the Year in Ancient Egypt. Mandrake of Oxford, 2011.  (This book is great for lunar festivals especially. Talks about Set being over the Full to New Moon portion of the month too. I believe the author also has a few books out on Set, but I haven't read them so I can't comment on their content.)

Siuda, Tamara. The Ancient Egyptian Prayerbook. Illinois: Stargazer Design, 2009.  (She also has The Ancient Egyptian Daybook coming out this summer.)

Bakir, Abd el-Mohsen. The Cairo Calendar No. 86637. Cairo, 1966.

Brier, Bob. Ancient Egyptian Magic. New York: William Morrow and Company, 1980.  (This has the Cairo Calendar in it, which is why I'm putting it here.)
I am the Goddess of Who I can Become. I mix the magic of the sorceress with the blade of a warrior. I walk the liminal pathways to see the face of the Goddess, both terrible and kind. As She stares back at me, I tremble in awe and ecstasy.  --SatAset

I'm glad that you enjoyed the Balls Day XDDD
Currently, all I do for Set is the Epag days, Wep Rnpt and Balls Day. BUt I don't do a whole lot of holiday celebrations in general.

I'm not immediately familiar with these. What source(s) are they from, or are they something you developed on your own? How do you observe them, aside from (as your blog says) playing angry music?

(That is an excellent idea BTW. *puts on some*.)

It's from a Kemetic Calendar. I did not make these.

Yesterday's holiday was celebrated with music, the others will be special offerings and if I can find time appropriate music playlists.

That rather looks like a typo for the Coronation of Heru-sa-Aset. :}

It's not. It's where the lords exchange crowns. Set has the red crown, and Heru gets the white crown.
