I believe everyone has an innate psychic ability, we just have to awaken it. This can be very hard, or it can just pop up, like mine did. Some are more useful than others. I know a few people who can see auras (which I would find so helpful!) and some who have prophetic dreams, etc etc. So my question to you is, have you awoken your ability? How? And how has this proved useful?

I'll go ahead and set the stage. When I was younger, I felt things really deeply. Usually, when I saw other people in pain, sorrow, the works. As I grew older, I lost it. But my junior year, my friend gave me a little chant to perform (energy restoration, and it was completely the opposite of what I needed haha), and I started to feel other people. I know it sounds crazy. Usually, it works well with strong emotions or memories, but for whatever reason I get physical feelings: an ache in my arm, tingles in my hands, a headache. I exercised this by having people focus on strong memories, without telling me what they were, and I could tell them what they were doing physically. Afterwards, they would tell me what the memory was. Wierd, huh? But I haven't done this in a while, and I'm beginning to wonder why I have this ability, when I see no practical use for it? I'm interested in seeing what you guys have to say, so please share!

I used to read auras after some doing energy work and training my eyes to see them, but it's kind of 'faded'. I also wasn't as skilled as born naturals, where they could just look at someones aura and instantly know what was up. I intent to maybe pick it up again, but not right now.


I'm more natural in dream work and dream meanings - my friends normally tell me theirs and I can instantly pick out the meaning behind it.
I've had Loki pop up into my dreams for chats and he's given me personal warning and predictions that have come true (people can argue if it was Loki or myself).

I've also experienced some precognition, seeing things before they happen. And I also get some bouts of clairvoyance, where I hear things in my head before they happen, like hearing my phone going off and then it really does.

They both come and go or it just happens randomly.
For example: I'll be on holiday and I heard the word 'Ice cream' in my head and the very next second my Mum will look over and said 'God, I'm dying for some ice cream'.
Or I'll go to the kitchen for a drink and find myself randomly picking up an fork for no apparent reason. Then someone will then call through from another room, asking me to bring them a fork while I'm there.

I haven't really done any exercises or meditation etc for the dreams and 'psychic spurts' - I did occasionally when I was younger but these are only happening recently. Delayed reaction maybe?

As for being useful; the aura reading was interesting but too much hassle to find answers to what I saw on people. Like wise, the psychic stuff is so random it's really more amusing than helpful. But the dreams have saved my ass more than once and it's fun picking at people's dreams to give them answers.

I'm not sure about your assertion that everyone has a psychic ability. I suppose I just haven't awakened it yet, but I seem to be about as psychic as a rock, despite my best efforts.

In highschool, I made myself some Zener ESP cards, hoping to teach myself clairvoyance. Every once in a while, I remember I have them, and I take them out and try them again. But I have never gotten any results that couldn't be accounted for by probability.

I suppose I've technically had a couple dreams that've come true, but that's coincidence, rather than actual psychic ability. Like dreaming the school's staff were going to go on strike because they were threatening to strike, and I was worried about it. And they did strike, but I don't think my dream was actually prophetic. I think I also dreamed once I was going to forget my lunch, and then I did. And that is really the extent of it.

I also thought, in highschool, that I was empathic. But I'm not. I just happen to read people more intuitively. Which, actually, probably most people read other people more intuitively, so it's probably not even anything special, let alone psychic. Likewise, I tried remembering past lives, once, until I realised I was just making things up, daydreaming instead of remembering.

I can do a little bit of basic energy manipulation, but I haven't decided if I think that's psychic, or psychological. And I'm learning to read Tarot cards, and some people think that uses psychic abilities, but I think Tarot cards work with the human brain's ability to find patterns in anything, rather than any kind of psychic process, so I don't count that as being psychic either.

Very interesting. =) The precognition is cool. Lately I've been more intuitive, almost precognitive, but not quite. Like I'll just sense what's going to happen or something similar. I've found a few ways to read auras, but I've just never really pushed myself to really try haha. thank you so much for sharing. =)

Alot of people don't believe everyone has psychic abilities, and some don't believe in psychic abilities at all. I do, and I stand by my belief that everyone has one. I'm a lover of balance and equality, and I don't necessarily believe the God and Goddess would give some people these gifts and not others. I mean, They don't love certain people more than others, right? Some may think I'm jut silly, but I think that yor gift just hasn't awoken yet. In my opinion (I'm really trying not to step on any toes here, haha, this is my first 'debate' on here) psychism depends on your intuition and how well you trust yourself. You have to let your logical mind take a rest, you know? And like you've seen here on the replies, sometimes they don't seem very useful! it can be a challenge, but I think that when you're ready, it will come to you. =)

I'm a lover of balance and equality, and I don't necessarily believe the God and Goddess would give some people these gifts and not others. Well, the counter to that argument is that if the Gods loved everyone equally, they'd've made us all brilliant mathematicians, musical geniuses, stunning artists, physically gorgeous, &c. Which, of course, they did not. Some people are brilliant mathematicians, some others are musical geniuses, some others are stunning artists, &c. And some others are psychic. Not everyone is talented in any given area, so it stands to reason that not everyone has a psychic talent, either. (I'm also not trying to step on your toes, either, or give offence, only to offer a different opinion. )

No, you're right. I didn't even think about it like that. You made a great point. I'm sure there's a good counterargument, but we could surely exhaust ourselves on that haha. However, I still wouldn't give up on trying to see if you have an psychic talent. I know some of them are innate and others are learned. You may not have been born a mathematician, but you could easily study and make yourself one! =) Thanks for the reply.

I'm somewhat empathic. I pick up on the emotions of others around me, and those emotions become my emotions. Therefore, a lot of the time it's difficult for me to tell if what I'm feeling is actually what I'M feeling...It can get annoying, especially when my boyfriend is in a bad mood and I'm in a bad mood at the same time...we kind of feed off each other's anger and and up arguing over the most ridiculous things. (Example, the night before last he was fretting over something that didn't need to be fretted over, and I was freaking out and stressed about my doctor's appointment coming up the next day. He started getting snappy, and by the end of the night I ended up screaming at him and breaking down. Thankfully, everything got better after I screamed some sense into him...) I've always had this ability. I call it a gift and a curse. Sometimes it's handy, others it's REALLY annoying.

I understand. =) that's how I felt at first, but my friend taught me how to shield or block. Since then, I can turn my "off switch" and it helps block it all out. =) Maybe this would help you?
