Firefly is not the greatest show ever. It is a fluffy space-western that doesn't deal with any deeper issues than "rebels = good; gov't = bad". It's funny, and has great dialogue, but that doesn't make it a better show than, say, Caprica or BSG or Defying Gravity. It just fucking doesn't.

Give me some science-fiction that deals with the questions of who we are as humans, what makes us human, our place in the universe. Nathan Fillion in leather pants is great, don't get me wrong -- but it's not the fucking epitome of a good science-fiction tv show. Just because you've all had the kool-aid Whedon hands out as party favors doesn't mean you know anything about what makes a good fucking story.
