My friend's sister is in the hospital!

So, my friend's sister collapsed after Zumba class last night. At first we thought it was the heat but then her lips started turning blue, so an ambulance was called to take her to the hospital. Last I heard, she's having an angioplasty done.

The thing that really bothers me, though, is how stupid her family is being about it. My friend and her daughter are in Ireland right now, so it's understandable that they can't rush over to be with her, but my mother waited until 2 AM for her sister's husband to show up and he NEVER CAME! My mom called the family today, and the conversation went like this:

Son: Oh, yeah, she's in the hospital, in bad shape.
Mom: Well, is you father there with her?
Son: Oh, no, he's running errands. He'll probably be along later.

Then she asked what he was doing, and he was just like: "Just relaxing..."

I mean, I can understand how people are busy and whatnot, but I would think if someone I cared about was in the hospital and "in bad shape", I'd be frantic to get over there! I will say that my mom does have a tendency to be a busybody, but when your family isn't checking up on you in the hospital, something is wrong.

Anyways, I would appreciate prayers, kind thoughts, etc. I'm a little shaken up by the whole thing, but my friend's sister has it worse right now.

I saw this with my best friend last year. I'm the one who got him to hospital, made sure that he had everything that he needed for his stay, phoned his family (got nowhere with them-too busy to come and see their only son in hospital) and, because I was going out of the country the next day, arranged for other friends to visit him and keep me updated. I phoned him every day from France and, when I got home and he was at home, he told me how 2 of his 3 sisters travelled up to see him, but his parents and other sister didn't as they 'couldn't spare the time'. What kind of parents don't drop everything when their child is rushed to hospital? They were only 45 miles away and they have a car. It was straight down the motorway. It would have taken an hour, that's all.

Rant over. I apologise. My thoughts are with your friends sister and I hope that she recovers soon.

Good news! She was let out of the hospital and is recovering at my friend's house! The doctors don't know what was wrong with her, though.

I'm so glad she's been allowed to leave the hospital! I certainly hope they find out what was wrong, though.
