The Morrigan and Odin
« on: May 31, 2013, 05:01:45 pm »
I would love to hear your thoughts on this one...

For several months I worked with The Morrigan as my Matron Goddess.
I read and felt TM wants to be exclusive deity in ones life,
thus I tried to respect it.

However today I saw 2 ravens ..one above my head and one was waiting on the road-path I ride my bike at.
Then I saw a few black birds too.
It seemed to me like a TM signs and thus I asked the raven on the ground: Morrigan?
And just a seconds later there was a big hanging man (something like a statue) on a tree.
Symbol of Odin imo.

Now, that confused me,
so I went home and studied about Odin in depth as much as possible on the net.

And to my surprise TM and Odin are like twin deities..

I feel nervous not knowing how to explain the situation.
..

I would be very grateful to anyone who could give some explanation .

What are your impressions of Morrighan allowing a bit of a 'look see'?

For me, I'ver felt like I've been Hers but at times She's givena few hints to look into other deities that have crossed my path.  They've had something in particular that they wanted to teach me then the exited, leaving Morrighan to come and resume her training/relationship with me.  It's alwys had something related to what She wants me to learn.  This could be something like yuo are encountering too.

Thank you, very interesting!

just recently Lilith reentered my life and I decided I will see her as my Sister,
while Morrigan as my Mother.

Now I wonder if it can be that TH is the Mother and Odin Father?
There appeared lots of 2s today too...

Before I saw another being as Father,
however Odin seems...idk, more like one, I guess.
But, obviously, just thoughts that might or might not be related to what is really happening.

Do I understand it right you are asking how I experience TM?
I met Her on Pere Lachaise graveyard in Paris on Halloween Day, in person, I believe.
I did not know even her name before
and was not even paganistic orientated.
However I knew she was not a human being and there was some strange ocurences with raven (crow? )
So I looked who it could be and found The Morrigan.
She then gave me feeling of an immense peace and knowing all is OK
at one occasion I should have been nervous even angry. Just a day later or so.
I felt in love with Her.
However she tests me all the time and comes to lift my feelings very rarely
from that time on.
Still I feel overwhelming love for Her
respect
and also I can see I am Hers from birth
(it explained .. all)

I just wish I could hear Her words properly,
know Her wishes and understand Her signs.

Can you do that?
How do you communicate with TM?

Can you describe this in more detail? I'm having a hard time picturing what it was. A statue of a man hung in a tree?

That is... not how I would describe it, but I think what you are getting at is that they have similar portfolios?

I think your best bet is definitely to ask tM how she would feel about you working with Odin. If you don't trust your own ability to perceive her answer, you might see if someone can do divination for you.

I'm curious why you moved so quickly (if I'm not misinterpreting you) to seeing Odin as your 'father' - that's not a title I'd choose lightly, so I'd like to hear more about why you feel it's right and who you thought of that way before, if you're comfortable sharing.

What I was asking was, what does Morrighan think of you working with Odin?  In my dealings with Her, She has a reason for allowing things to happen for 'educational purposes' so to speak.  If she allows another to come forward to teach, it would be to enhance what She wants to teach.  She may not want just anyone around...  Morrighan is also very demanding in many ways to ensure that we become thje best people we can be.  Delegating to others isn't done very often by Her in my case.

All of this, particularly the twins deal. Also in lore Odin is known to use and discard people as fits his needs (just as any ruler might I suppose) sooo proceed with caution I guess.

IDK

But so far She gave me no clear sign of anger.

yes, the hanged man was a flat statue in a tree.
Rather big one.

Odin as  Father...
Sometimes some things need no time, imo.
Time would just destroy them.
He came to me in person, same like Lady Morrigan.
He made rainbows and lightnings for my mind.

I feel the connection is stable.

Is this directed at me? If so *I'm* not judging I'm stating that in the known lore Odin is often viewed with caution and outright suspicion for his actions. YMMV. But as with any deity, caution is highly advisable.

Why is it a sensitive topic for you? When I first encounter a new deity, I tend to spend a fair amount of time with the available lore. I don't think most people would expect something to be a sensitive topic if you've just posted about it.

Odin's not a god to take lightly (though neither is tM) and you probably want to make sure you know what you're signing on for before you give him as much control over your wyrd as a title like "father" implies. He is (and I say this affectionately) a right bastard when he needs to be.

I would echo Jacks statement here.

Not saying at all that you should not pursue this, just to really know all the different aspects of Odin, to really understand what he is capable of. Personally I am more than grateful for his presence in my life, but it certainly has not come with out its share of stress.
Really?  So, hey, want to go fishing?  I\'ve got a telescope, and it\'s going to be a dark night, so we should see the fish really well.
...what, I\'m not talking about fishing?  That\'s stargazing?  It\'s all doing-stuff, so it\'s the same thing, right?

Who we are to judge gods?

Conscious entities with discernment, the capacity for moral judgement, and a responsibility to use them.

There are very few gods who have not been known to do something in contravention of our standards of ethics or morality; of the two I'm closest to, one is known for genocidal rage directed at all of humanity and the other for fratricidal murder.  I cannot set aside awareness of these things and say "Oh, it's a god, so it's okay"; I must be clear about what I am and am not willing to follow through with, where I am and am not willing to resemble those Powers which I serve.

I wonder sometimes if one of the reasons these myths include murder, slaughter, rape, and other forms of the unacceptable-to-(sometimes modern)-humans as a warning to mystics and other serious devotees: do not get too close to this flame.
