New Order of Druids?
« on: May 09, 2013, 05:13:03 pm »
what are peoples thoughts on the New order of Druids and their teaching courses?

I like what I see but would like opinions from people more experienced than me.

thanks

I don't know a thing about them, but the book they are promoting on their front page is setting off my "Danger Will Robinson" warning system.

I'm rolling my eyes at the book. What has the zodiac got to do with King Arthur? Also Solar God at the head of the Irish and Welsh pantheons since when?

In the case of the Irish pantheon that certainly isn't the case so I'm rolling my eyes with you :rolleye::
Where do people get this stuff? Seriously, it's not like the sources are hard to find or expensive even.... :hdsk:

If you are looking for an organization that has a good, well organized Druidic study path, the ADF is really very good.

Everything I see here seems very off from my knowledge of Neo-Druidism.

I definitely like what I see of ADF but I'm not sure that druidry is the right path for me so don't want to pay for something I'm not sure about yet.

I am a part of the NOD and so far I have found it to be a pretty good resource. The basic classes are free as well as access to their forum. The community is very welcoming and has helped me find my path within Druidry.

I find that the youth course gives a good overview on the basics of druidry, while the adult course requires more reflection.

Hope this helps

Thank you everyone for the input (yes I agree that that book looks rediculous but some of their other stuff not so) I think I will hold off it for now but in future I might do some of their courses and take what seems legit and leave the rest.

You may like to try this: http://www.solitarydruid.org/
They are a branch of ADF, free and their liturgy is quite simple :)
I starting getting involved myself because there is no ADF groves in my country unfortunately and I also am strapped for cash being a student :)

You're welcome! Also their liturgy can be used for any pantheon really (I think) so I found it nice and open :)

There's a bigger pic of the cover art in one of the links.  Actual LOLs.  I may have to buy it...
