New Social Group - Not Exactly the Temple of Doom
Darkhawk has created a new social group called "Not Exactly the Temple of Doom", with the following description:
To join this group visit the social groups homepage where this new group will be listed.We all know which gods are going to be the bad guys in the next big Hollywood smash or comic book that uses mythology riffs.
We even likely know why. Sometimes there is a damn good reason in the mythology for the god to be portrayed as a malevolent force; sometimes there is a modern neurosis that gets in the way of any interpretation of, say, 'death' as something other than a big ooky-spooky.
But there are still people who have relationships with these gods or goddesses, who even love them. Not out of ignorance or denial, but because of navigating the intense complexities of these ambivalent personages.
Intended as a safer space for those people who deal with these deities: for sharing UPG, experiences, and interpretations of lore and mythology that make it possible for us to have relationships with these particularly difficult entities, to discuss pop culture issues, and to bitch about people who think that a comic-book supervillain deity is a handy excuse to be an asshole.
