Where to concentrate my focus?
I've slowly stopped denying my Pagan beliefs and now I'd like to know where I should focus my research a bit more. I've drifted far from the Christian religion I was raised, mainly because I could not view the Bible as it was taught or the New Testament.
I do believe in magic but am certain, very certain that I am not a witch. I see magic as something that exists with a will of its own. I read somewhere about Providence but can not remember where, what exactly it is, if someone could steer me the right direction that would be great.
I follow a rather confusing calender of holidays and traditions, I'm Swiss, old traditional farm family. Chalandamarz, Fasnacht and Sechselaeuten in the spring. Chilbi and Sami Klaus in the fall. Drei Konig in the winter. You can probably guess that the Roman Catholics had a huge influence there with the traditions. There are a few others, family ones. We never went to church on these days, they are traditions and celebrations. I follow lot of folklore and stories that were passed down.
I've never ever felt comfortable in the Christian teachings, ever. Apparently I was the child that would sneak out during Sunday School and could never remember the Lord's Prayer. I was the one making offerings at harvest and fascinated by the moon. I love the beauty and power of Nature, it holds all the influence in my life.
To date, I am monotheist, one God with the belief that there are others, Powers That Be out there as well. The Greeks, Romans, Egyptian and Norse never spoke to me, no interest there.
If you somehow read through all of this and have a suggestion of where I continue my research, please let me know.Jinx or Jinxy
Add a dash of folklore, a few centuries of farmer's blood and mix well.

Re: Where to concentrate my focus?
Two words, both are 'read'.
I would start with your family's nationality pre-christian background. If you don't find anything there that you connect with, perhaps an interest or fascination with another culture may get you headed down the path for you.
Study everything and don't get frustrated if the answer dosen't come to you instantly. It took me years to get where I am now.
Be satisfied with finding a spot where you feel most spiritually connected to meditate on it. Just be grateful, for now, to worship Nature for what it is.
Be patient, be persistent. and be mindful. Things will work out in time.Last edited by GreyOwl; 4 Jul 2012 at 10:06 AM. Reason: Punctuation

Re: Where to concentrate my focus?
Under the Pagan Topics section on the front page of this site are several links that could help your research.
A member here, Jenett, has this seekers' information that I thought was good to read when I first began to look in to things.
