Facebook Just Changed Your Email Without Asking—Here’s How to Fix It
Facebook just changed the email address it shows to Friends who view your info from the address you selected to their silly facebook.com email system they want everyone to use (but next to no one does). Of course, they did not bother to ask your permission or even tell you they did it. And it is NOT intuitive to change it back.
You can read more about it in this article:
Facebook Just Changed Your Email Without Asking—Here’s How to Fix It
From the article:
Personally, I think it is time that Facebook was heavily regulated. No changes to customer information, privacy settings, or to the information about themselves customers have to elected display/not display to others should ever be allowed without the customers informed consent to the specific change proposed. No blanket "you give us premission" type crap in their TOS or the like. There should be hefty fines for the company for violating this and long jail terms for all management type who approve such changes.Luckily, it's easy to reverse this foolish move. Go to your Timeline. Click about, under your contact info. Scroll down to "Contact Info" and hit edit. Switch all of the crossed out circle symbols to a full circle for each inbox you want visible on your profile. If you don't want @facebook.com to show up, switch it from a full circle ("Shown on Timeline") to crossed out ("Hidden from Timeline"). This is also a good opportunity to check your privacy settings and make sure your various inboxes are visible only to friendlies. Hit save.Randall

Re: Facebook Just Changed Your Email Without Asking—Here’s How to Fix It
I have one, but it's under my legal name (Facebook TOS requirement, incidentally - lots of people ignore it, but...) and I pretty much have to use it for professional purposes. (I help maintain our library's Facebook page.)
I tell people the following:
- I check it infrequently compared to nearly every other method of reaching me. (at best it's once on weekdays, but often I'll go a bunch of days without checking if I don't need to do something on the work-related pages.)
- Because it's tied into my professional work, I don't connect myself with events, organizations, etc. that reveal my religion, my health, my politics, or other things like that. (People are one thing, event/fan/etc. pages are another.)
- I don't put anything on there I'm not okay being entirely public, because I do not trust Facebook's privacy policies further than I can throw a car. And that therefore, I am not inclined to talk about most things that might actually be interesting. (Talking about what I'm reading tends to feel personally revealing, so even the mainstream titles I read tend not to get talked about, for example.)
- And finally, my chances of actually responding to posts/etc. on Facebook tend to be very small (I make a particular point for co-workers, and a couple of other people, but that's about it.)
People who can't tolerate the above - well, chances are they weren't close friends in the first place. Fortunately, most of the people I want to talk to about actual important stuff either aren't on Facebook at all, or use it the way I do. (Which is to say, it's a minor part of their online life and the important/interesting stuff is duplicated other places as well that I have many fewer issues with.)Limen: Thoughts from a Threshold (my blog) :: http://gleewood.org/threshold

I don't have a Facebook account either, and I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks about that fact.
Frankly, I think it's rude when people assume everyone is on FB and I'm happy to express that opinion to anyone who thinks that posting something on FB constitutes a good faith attempt to contact all concerned parties.
But maybe that's just me...
