Spirit that looks like my husband crawled into bed with me.
Okay. So. Straight to the meat of it.
We moved into post housing almost three years ago. It is a fifty year old house. The idea that there might be a spirit or two or five is not that out there. I wasn't surprised when things first started happening.
It started with my daughter's toys going off without anyone there, and footsteps. It progressed to her seeing "Daddy" when he was at work. She was 1.5ish at the time and I didn't think much of it. She'd laugh and smile and just chat with "Daddy" so I did nothing to stop it. There was no malevolent feeling in the house.
A few months after that I started to see my husband with my peripherals. I'd say something to him, only to turn around and find I was alone. This happened often. Drove me freaking bananas. He was there. Solid. But the second I looked up there was nothing.
A while after that I was lying in bed after my husband had gone to work in the morning. I awoke to find him standing there in his uniform at the end of the bed, looking at me. I jumped up to pull him him with me and he just gave me a smile and quickly turned and left the room. I hopped out of bed to follow him and can't find him. I look out the window and I see our car is gone. My husband had not come home from work.
When I got pregnant with my second daughter things got kind of dark. I felt like I was being suffocated. I was just so sad. I just felt spiritually awful. One night I finally had a melt down and bawled like a baby because I just couldn't take whatever it was. As soon as I stopped crying and stepped out of the room I could *feel* a difference. The air was no longer heavy. Neither my husband nor I did anything to make this presence go away. I had just poured my guts out to a friend, crying hysterically, and then nothing.
I thought whatever it was was gone. And then my new baby started interacting with "Dada".
A few weeks after it returned (if it had ever really left) I was in the shower. All of the doors and windows were shut, my husband was at work, and my girls were down for the night. The bathroom door flew open, stayed open for about twenty seconds and then SLAMMED shut. Like, shake the walls slammed. I... well, it scared the bejeezus out of me.
And then a few weeks after that the really weird thing happened. I was sleeping in bed and I felt Husband roll over to cuddle me. I snuggle in and ask him if he should be at work. He says no. We cuddle and watch TV together for like twenty minutes. He then hops out of bed and walks out the door. He's in his uniform. I then get a feeling. I look at my phone to check the time and I just know. I look out the window and the car is gone. Husband had been at work for over an hour.
We interacted. We cuddled. We spoke. It is just too much. I see him/it all the time now in my peripherals. A few times a day.
I smudged today for the first time in AGES. The house feels amazing but I'm pretty sure I just saw him/it again a few minutes ago.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm dealing with? I can see spirits occasionally (since childhood) and I can read auras. And when I DO see spirits, I'm oftentimes not aware that it's a spirit until later. So clearly I am out of my element. I am not psychic and I haven't done any spellwork, and when I did cast spells it was few and far between. Like I said. Way out of my element here.
Thanks for reading this if you made it through! It's a doozy.
ETA:
He/It is with me right now. On my left side. Reading over my shoulder? I don't know. Making my face feel hot. I don't appreciate it, btw. Having the left side of my face grow hot is actually kind of aggravating me. Again with the creepy peripheral bologna. He/It was with me earlier today too when I was cleaning the playroom. Sigh.Last edited by Cinnamon Broom; 9 Jun 2012 at 10:29 PM. Reason: adding info

I don't have a lot of experience with this sort of thing, but have you tried asking him who he is and what he wants from you?
Maybe you should just tell him that appearing as your husband is creeping you out and confusing your kids.
Let him know that this is unacceptable and if he wants to communicate, he's got to find a better way.
Also, have you told your husband about your experiences? Has he seen anything odd in the house? My Blog- 13 Belladonna Drive

When I read this, a couple of possibilities came to mind.
The first is that you have an entity that's appearing to you and your children in the guise of your husband. In which case, Catherine's given some good advice as far as proceeding. I'd try direct communication, letting this spirit know that this behavior is not okay. If that fails to stop it, a banishing will usually take care of things.
The second thought is that you may be seeing your husband's vardøgr, which is essentially the ghost or spirit of a person who is still living. This 'ghost' will perform everyday actions of the person, often preceding the person actually doing them. For example, hearing someone come into the house five minutes before they actually do. Some people can project these 'ghosts' either unconsciously or at will. Mostly harmless, but they can be a little disconcerting.
A further thing occurs to me... since you stated that you can see auras, are you able to discern an aura on this apparition of your husband? If so is it similar to that of your husband when face-to-face with the real thing?Into the Grey Mists (Spiritual Blog)

Re: Spirit that looks like my husband crawled into bed with me.
The idea that it's just my husband unconsciously coming home is REALLY comforting!! I like that idea. A lot. It's just a million times less creepy. And it would explain why he's in his uniform whenever I fully see him!!
As for the auras, I only see them when a. I choose to or b. the person is enraged or hurt. Sometimes with people I can see a faint outline, like they were drawn into this world (if that makes any sense) but for the most part I have to concentrate a little in order to see them. So I never saw the spirit/vardøgr's aura. But you know, I've never attempted to see the aura of a ghost so I don't know if it's even possible. I'm definitely going to try next time.
Husband has experienced the toys going off, the foot steps, and the girls talking to other spirits. He has never seen anything, though.
I do wonder about the shadows I see lurking from the corner of my eye, though, if the thing interacting with the girls and me is a vardøgr. It's sometimes a dark, solid figure that I can only see with my peripherals that I just assume is my husband. Or it's a shadow lurking in the corner, watching me. Or it's just the sensation and knowledge that it's there like RIGHT next to me. Could that be the same thing that climbed into bed with me? Or is it possible that Husband is projecting and there is a separate entity here as well?
I'm not like the ghost whisperer or anything. Oftentimes when I see a spirit I'm unaware that it was a spirit until after the fact. I can't see them at will or anything, and it's not really anything I've researched. It's more a quirk than a talent. I am completely out of my element here.

There's a possibility that it could be both kinds of activities... or just a very clever entity who can mimic your husband's actions and appearance. In my experience, a person typically won't hear or see their own vardøgr and are usually blissfully unaware of its existence at all.

Re: Spirit that looks like my husband crawled into bed with me.
I don't know much about vardogs in general, so this is only speculation but assuming that the husband is projecting now and not before, it might be useful to know what is changed for him since the family moved.
For example... there's a particular reason he might be uneasy with being away from the family/out to work since the move? Has the moving upset him in way that might have him consciously wanting to return to home when he is at work? Or... maybe there's been some change in his working situation that made him uncomfortable, so he somewhat reached out for the comfort of his home?
If he's unconsciously projecting a double out of some unresolved personal feelings maybe the situation will change once he resolves them.“Sometimes you wake up. Sometimes the fall kills you. And sometimes, when you fall, you fly.” ― Neil Gaiman *
