It has occured to me that Shakespeare's Macbeth follows the tradition of the geas. "No man of woman born shall harm Macbeth 'til Birnam Wood come to Dunsinane."
He can only be killed by someone who was not "born." MacDuff manages it because his mother had a C-section, so he was not "Born" as such. And all of this happens when Birnam forest actually relocates, when MacDuff's army uses trees from the forest as a form of cover.(/|\) Fire in the Head: My Blog on Matters Spiritual, Political, or otherwise important to me.
