Add an Herbalism Forum?

I couldn't help but notice that there is no forum under which anything involving herbs can properly fit. Would it be too much to ask for a forum for herbs to be added somewhere? I could see it as being a social discussion forum, but with that one category being at the bottom of the main page, it could easily be overlooked.

The thing about that is what exactly would be discussed? And if I'm not mistaken, I think there is (or was, haven't looked at the groups in a while) a Social Discussion Group for herbalism.

The forum would be for exchanging herbal remedies, discussing the magickal properties of herbs, perhaps being the foundation for discussing potions in general, etc.

There's no Social Discussion Group for herbalism. There's Health and Medicine, but you can only fit so much about herbs under that category.

I think magical discussions of herbs should take place in the Witchcraft/Hoodoo sub-board. (IIRC they already do/did.) Especially, if the discussions wander into the area of potion-making, it fits there perfectly. I don't think there is a need for a special forum for herbalism.

Which is why I asked. With something so limited a focus, it probably wouldn't generate that many topics.

You misunderstand. I was talking about the user-created social groups. I am agreeing with Tana and saying that one of the Witchcraft boards would be better for those discussions. Best leave Health and Medicine for things verified by science.

Right, right. It's just too bad that, at least in the groups that I've joined, no one really posts often.

Which is why I asked. With something so limited a focus, it probably wouldn't generate that many topics.

That's the reason why you will get more response and activity, if you post the topics you are interested in, in the fora.

You start it, I will join and participate on a regular basis. Summer break is coming and I'll contribute at least twice a week. I'll bring pics now and then too.

There is more than just alt health to do with herbalism of course and matters concerning it could take up and entire forum. The H&G and DIY aspects alone would need to have sub categories. Tinctures, oils, incenses, recipes (not spam ) would too. It'd be more of a reference after a while and that's why I agree that it should be a member group. I would love to read actual user's experiences in all aspects of herbalism.

If you don't start it, I will.

And if enough herbalism threads take off in that forum, a herbalism forum might be possible in the future. This is another advantage of using the main board forums (instead of social groups) for discussions like this. More people see them and if they are popular enough staff is much more likely to notice.
