    Not sure what to do

Greetings and Bright blessings to all. My wife and I recently moved into a "new" house along with our two children ages 2 and 6. Lately my wife has been complaining of hearing strange noises and having some disturbing dreams. I have also heard some weird noises around the house as of late and have no way to explain them. Personally I am on the fence about the whole "evil spirits" issue, but I have felt the weird energy in this house. We have a small bit of sage left and am planning on doing a cleansing in the morning. I'm actually writing this at about 4 a.m. eastern time because my wife woke me up because she had a dream that she woke up from just before death and is now too scared to go back to sleep. Truthfully I'm a little creeped out as well. Not entirely sure that a sage cleansing will be enough. Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed and appreciated. oh and I'm doing a search on the house and property now. Thanks.

If you have nothing else at hand, try to place raw eggs and/or tomatoes in the areas where you feel the energy to be the most off. Remove/replace after seven days (the tomatoes when they rot, if they rot too fast to look normal, they absorbed negative stuff.)
A floorwash with sea salt in it, is another easy and mundane method to clear the negativity away.

A little bit of this can be normal when moving into a new place which was previously occupied by other people, while you and any entities or energies in/on the property get used to each other. Dreams might reflect you and your wife feeling threatened or out of your element without you actually being threatened. How have the children been reacting? Sometimes kids of that age can have a pretty good intuitive sense of whether something hanging around is malevolent/dangerous. Do you have cats/dogs, and if so how have they been reacting? Weird noises and disquieting dreams usually aren't a sign of anything seriously bad; you don't say how long you've been living in this new place, but if it's only been a couple of weeks then I'd say your experiences are probably par for the course and nothing to worry about.

In addition to the cleansing, I'd set up any family tokens, images, or heirlooms which you have in your possession. Claim the space. If you have family guides, ancestors with whom you maintain a relationship, patron saints, etc., hold a little housewarming for them. You also might want to build a small cairn outside. In other words, make it apparent that you aren't going anywhere. However, if you're planning any major renovations, I might wait until you feel more comfortable - renovations tend to increase "activity" of all sorts, and even if whatever is present is not malevolent the activity might begin to cause you too much anxiety.

Great advice, Kessei. Couldn't have put it better myself.
