ShrineBeautiful: Call for Submissions
I've started a new blogsite called ShrineBeautiful.com - Inspiring, enchanting sacred spaces- altars and shrines from many pagan paths.
My goal is for it to become a resource, going beyond a simple photo posting site, to give the how and why. I also want to highlight the fact that there are myriad approaches to paganism, with "path" pages that point the readers to quality resources. Here's a bit more on the concept.
Shrines need not be expensive or complex, though I'd like the photos to be of presentable quality. Entries can also feature specific tools, holiday set-ups, magical projects, and anything else that's on-topic. Submission guidelines are here.
I can also use help writing up summary and resource pages for different paths, but I won't add a path until I have at least one shrine to go with it.Last edited by Helmsman_of_Inepu; 26 May 2012 at 08:52 AM. Reason: added the 'why' link.

That's a great idea! And the site looks good. I like your video to the side of the page.
Just so you know, I'm having trouble with the links at the top (they don't seem to be loading for me). I pressed the side section to look at Kemetic shrines and the Wesir and Set shrine's picture isn't loading the whole way.Last edited by SunflowerP; 27 May 2012 at 04:35 AM. Reason: fixing quote code

Re: ShrineBeautiful: Call for Submissions
Thanks! I'll see if I can get someone else to check the links.
The way the "paths" section should work is to bring up summaries of all the shrines in that category, with one photo and the first paragraph or so of text. Clicking on the "Continue Reading -->" should take you to the full post for that shrine. If you or anyone else is still having trouble with it, pm me with what browser you're using and maybe I can find someone else to check it for me.
I hope it's not too difficult finding people who are willing to write descriptions. The attitude that "all pagans are exactly the same" always bothers me, and I'm hoping SB can be a guide to the richness of all our traditions.
I can also host or link to youtube videos if you'd rather do a video tour.Kemetic Reconaissance blog.

You might try asking Ms. Graveyarddirt (also here at her Tumblr) if you can post some pictures of her altars. She has pictures and explanations already up on her website, but I would definitely ask her if you could link to them at the very least. She's a cool cool lady, once you get past the profanity and the capslock

Re: ShrineBeautiful: Call for Submissions
Errata: On your "Why Shrine Beautiful?" page, in the first paragraph, the link for "esoteric traditions" is a repeat of the link to the Wiki page on ceremonial magic.
I think this is a wonderful idea - more specifically, since shrine/altar photo sites are nothing new, I think your approach/execution is wonderful. The inclusivity - of reasoning and symbolism, of the diversity of pagan religions, and of such a wide definition of what's topical - puts it several cuts above anything else I've seen on this line.

Re: ShrineBeautiful: Call for Submissions
Thanks- fixed.
The paths/resources section will be a ton of work, and I don't know a whole lot about traditions other than Kemeticism (which is one reason the resource idea appeals to me.)
The graveyard dirt entries would take some thought, because I want SB to be library/school friendly. It would feel like bad manners to me to say "Hi, can I use your stuff? But first you have to re-write everything and take out the obscenities." I think it would be likely I'd just get a string of obscenities back.

Re: ShrineBeautiful: Call for Submissions
Generally on her altar stuff there is less of the obscenities. I totally understand why that could be a deal breaker, though. But the other reason I suggested her is that she basically built her path from the ground up and explains why she does what she does, not just saying its traditional. She thought it through and explains the whyfor as well.

Re: ShrineBeautiful: Call for Submissions
I think I've got some photos you could use, though I'm not sure how much additional info I can offer. My path is pretty self-styled (as you can probably tell by the photos I'll send). Most of the resources I utilize in my "path" tend to be things like books on local botany and organic gardening.
