Hello!
Hi everyone! My name is James, and I am here to learn and discuss. I'm a bit shy though, so I may lurk more than I post.
Why am I here? Well in my search for intellectual discussion on Paganism, I always seemed to end up here! Just last week I was looking for opinions on Ragnarok, and found very interesting discussions relating to Ragnarok, Loki, and Lokeans. After looking around a bit, I saw that there were all sorts of intriguing discussion and intelligent individuals. I felt compelled to sign up!
As far as my past as a Pagan, I consider myself somewhat new, despite a Pagan grandmother, Christian Witch mother, and a now-deceased Buddhist-Eclectic Pagan father. I have been raised reading tarot and doing rituals, but I was also taken to church ocassionally with my step-father and his Very Christian relatives. My grandmother considers herself Wiccan, though that could be debated. She mostly gave me her Ravenwolf collection to learn from, but now I am aware that sge is a very controversial author. I recently realized that I wish to become serious about my spirituality. I am practically starting over completely. I felt a strong pull to the deity I work with currently, and I have been cautioiusly but happily working with him for a few months. This weekend I will be attending a nearby Pagan Unity Festival, and hopefully I will find some good reading material, since they tend to have a good variety.
I am excited to learn from you and exchange information.
Also, if anyone has any books they would recommend, that would be lovely. I am very interested in learning about various religions and traditions.

Re: Hello!
Welcome! Glad of you to join us.
If you're interested in Greek religion I would read Theogony by Hesiod, of even if you're not interested I would read it anyway because it's a wonderful read!
For general witchcraft and the likes Raymond Buckland produces wonderful books, especially the "Big Blue Book." Just ignore his remarks on Wicca being around for thousands of years, that was before it was known that Wicca is a modern ideal. Although the book has heavy overtones of his own Wicca, Seax-Wicca, it's a wonderful book to read for information.
