Pagan Movies
I thought it might be cool to get a list of Pagan movies started. Also movies they have Pagan concepts within the framework of the film. I'll start off.
The Wicker Man(1973) (not the horrible film with Nick Cage assaulting women for 2 hours)[Now using the Cryfder account]

Re: Pagan Movies
One that leaps to mind is Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke (maybe because I just finished watching it for the umptyumpth time). While obviously not a realistic portrayal of Shintoism, it's a mesmerizing fairytale with a Shinto slant.

Re: Pagan Movies
You stole my submission.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest Bambi. To me the story if full of thematic 'Wheel of the Year' elements: new life, growth, death/transition, new life again. It also distinctly marks the passing seasons. Maybe that's not what ol' Walt intended, but....

Re: Pagan Movies
The Holy Mountain.
It's satire and most every pagan concept in it is a grotesque, it's chock full of references.

Re: Pagan Movies
Serpent and the Rainbow is an 80's movie about voodoo and very well done, if not slightly cheesy.
Practical Magic is a favorite about witches.
13th Warrior is about an Arab man who comes to the North to help some Norse.
Ondine is a different movie about mermaids and whatnot.
I love the Last Air Bender cartoon. Not the movie so much.

Re: Pagan Movies
I wasn't even aware that there was another movie called The Holy Mountain. I thought you meant the film by Leni Riefenstahl... which could be described as vaguely pagan, I suppose, but not nearly as much as The Blue Light.
