Mario or Sonic?

And now I have the Dr. Mario theme music in my head. And I the only one who wishes Nintendo would re-release this and Super Mario Bros. on a modern gaming system (such as the Wii or 3/DS) -- provided that they keep the original graphics, music, and control functions, of course

They're both old, they're both classic - who do you prefer and why?

Mario, definitely Mario. My grandmother bought my sisters and I our first console, a N64. So the first two games I played were Super mario 64 and Ocarina of time.
Though I will admit, I've always been more of a Zelda fan than anything else.

They're both old, they're both classic - who do you prefer and why?

I choose both, cause there are up and downsides to both:

1. I grew up with a Sega Game Gear and a Genesis, so Sonic was in our house a ton, it was later on in the days of Gamecube that Mario came in.

2. Sonic is a dying franchise, Mario is still going strong.

3. Both are fun playing mechanics wise and they have some differences between each other so one isn't a copy of the other. They may share ideas, but they aren't clones.

Personally I think if they got better writers for game storylines Sonic wouldn't be dying. I'm sure they could take some ideas from the older comics and even the new ones.

Also, my first game ever was Sonic 2 for the Genesis (which I still have). I also have (yes present tense) a Sega Dreamcast and Sonic Adventure 2. Sonic 2 was by far my twin sister's and I's favorite game. It was the first game we learned how to play, we've had it since we were four/five. There was also, in order of discovery: Sword of Vermillion, Golden Axe, Mortal Combat (N64), Zelda (GBC-Wii games only), and Pokemon Colisseum, Street Fighters (SNES) and Pokemon Yellow and Red before I ever played a single Mario game. I hadn't heard of Mario until I was seven or eight. I had my first Pokemon cards before Mario games. I didn't even know there was a Mario tv show (or a Zelda one, I'm sad I never got to see that) but I was a big fan of the chili dog eatin Sonic lol

I cannot believe Mario is beating Sonic right now. Sonic was a million times better and he wasn't trying to save some annoying damsel who kept getting captured despite being able to afford security.

I don't think Pokemon got caught as much as Princess Daisy.

Sonic never runs away, he's always running right towards the challenge and he can do a lot more than just run. For one thing he can go Super Saiyan XD (the maker of Sonic admitted to using Dragonball Z as inspiration for Super Sonic lol)
