I was a Nintendo kid so I grew up playing Mario (both Super Mario Bros. and Dr. Mario) and not really much (if at all) of Sonic.

Asking the hard questions, man! Grew up playing both so nostalgia doesn't cut it. Recently, Mario games blow Sonic ones out of the pool so +1 for Mario. But I've always been amazed by the (usually creepy) dedication to the story for Sonic, with the comics still being released.

Both had awesome TV shows. I can't choose: Captain Lou or chili dogs? See what you do to me?

No, honestly, I grew up playing both (or playing Sonic as soon as I could get my hands on a Sega Genesis) but I don't play any games in either franchise at all now.

I loved the Mario Bros. cartoon when I was little, though. Sometimes they played that and other times it was the Legend of Zelda one, which I also liked.

Sonic. Only because I grew up with a Sega Mega Drive and didn't own a Nintendo, so didn't get to play Mario Bros. My 5 year old loves it, he plays on Wii. How things have changed.

And I voted Mario. The only games I played on Sega were Mortal Kombat and the Lion King one. I had more opportunities for various Mario games, and have continued to enjoy them through high school and college (a good night in college was Rammstein and Dr. Mario).
