Re: Favorite Tea?
I am the worst Asian ever--hot tea tastes weird to me, so I only drink tea when I have an upset stomach and literally need to. I guess the most tolerable kind for me is standard black tea.
And only if it's iced and flavored, especially raspberry or lemon.
The rest of my family are either tea-lovers or fine with it.Last edited by Sharysa; 23 May 2012 at 10:52 PM. Reason: snipping quote and elaborating post

Re: Favorite Tea?
I am obsessive about tea, and only sheer willpower (and avoiding tea stores) keeps me from bankrupting myself buying the stuff.
Basic tea bags:
- Basic black tea, with lots of milk and sugar
- Any kind of basic chai or vanilla chai, I'm not picky
- Tetley's Vanilla Rooibos and Spice Plum Rooibos
- Not sure who makes it, but this one Orange Spice rooibos blend
Loose-leaf:
- Rooibos 'Tango' blend from Bush Tea (roobios, lemon peel, orange peel, cloves, cinnamon)
- Mom's Apple Pie from David's Tea (green tea that tastes like apples and spices, it's my favourite tea in the world)
- Pumpkin Spice from David's Tea (black tea that tastes... well, like pumpkin spice. It has tiny candy pumpkins in it)
- Forever Nuts from David's Tea (herbal blend with almonds, apple, cinnamon, and beets of all things)
- This blend from Earth Tea that has peppermint, spearmint, lemon balm, and ton of other stuff
I normally drink tea at night, and I have severe sleep issues, so I try to stick with rooibos or herbal blends (and most herbal blends do nada for me).We owe it to each other to tell stories [Neil Gaiman]

Re: Favorite Tea?
Bubble tea! :P
Okay, seriously now, I've tried to like tea, but it's just way too bitter for me. The lady at the tea shop says its bitter because I wasn't brewing it correctly, but I've followed the directions to the letter and nope, still bitter. I have a fruit blend (not really a tea) from the shop and I only like it with a heaping tablespoon of honey. I don't drink it very often, though, so I figure all that extra sugar won't kill me.
I do love bubble tea though. My taste buds have been spoiled by sugar.

Re: Favorite Tea?
If you have the same bitterness problem with coffee, you could just be super-sensitive to bitterness. It's not an uncommon problem.
Personally, I'm of the opinion that both tea and coffee need to have a good HUGE chunk of sugar in them. coffee also needs cream. I like my caffinated sugarmilk!

Re: Favorite Tea?
During my canning experiments last year (I've only been doing it a couple years, so they're all still experiments) I ran across a recipe for coffee jelly. I used regular pectin instead of liquid, and apparently not enough, so it turned out as a sort-of-thick sauce rather than a jelly.
I'm not going through it very fast, but adding a couple tablespoons to a glass of milk makes a very tasty, sweet, creamy thing that seems to supply the required daily caffeine intake wonderfully. Sometimes coffee bothers my stomach, but this stuff never.
