Many Strange Electronic malfunctions: house spirits at work?

If this explanation was appliable to my case, I might assume that lately malfunctions became more pronounced because it's has been an increasingly stressfull time of my life.

Divination might clear my head here.

As crazy as this sounds, my husband sometimes *grounds* to the electrical grid where he is. You might want to make a deliberate point of NOT grounding to, say, the laptop?

I am definitely trying this - it's brilliant and I can't think of a better way to test this theory. I think I can focus on 'withdrawing' energically from those items as soon as I start using them in the day.

I drain batteries and screw up programming of electronics that are in close proximity to me. I can't wear a watch for more than a day or two and when I was little I'd regularly futz up the remote control's programming just by sitting next to it. My dad does the same thing, so we're thinking it might be hereditary. Lithium-ion batteries seem to hold up pretty well against it, though, so I'm not sure if you're doing the same thing I do (laptop batteries being lithium ion, more often than not.)

I'm the same way. My grandfather was like that too, so we've always assumed it was something in the genes.

I am definitely trying this - it's brilliant and I can't think of a better way to test this theory. I think I can focus on 'withdrawing' energically from those items as soon as I start using them in the day.

I find it easiest to shield my equipment, and occasionally my hands. I've always had that kind of problem, including in the hospital when the equipment was vital to my survival. I've lived many different places, so I've ruled out poor wiring as a reason, and when I'm in serious distress the effect extends to lights and machines at the homes of my friends and family.

Mostly, I just buy light bulbs, batteries, extension cords, etc. in bigger quantities than most people and shield carefully.

I know, I know the title sounds quite... overdramatic?

Every electronic device I had in last 3 years had a short life and met a rather unlikely end (really, you wouldn’t believe the nember of cells I changed and various misfunctionings that affected my TWO computers). I started getting suspicious when my iphone and lap-top and ipod all during the same lucky week 'manifested' similiar battery malfunctions… to not mention once I sent my computer back to my parents house so it could repaired, my father assured me that although he left the thing turned on whole the day, the computer never went in overheating mode like it started doing right away when it was back to my apartment.

Since mundane explanations no longer cut it out, I started suspecting maybe Hermes could have something to do with that, but now I know Him better that does not really sounds like his modus operandi … plus, the problems seem more or less linked to the apartment in itself…at this point, I feel I should at least consider if some kind of house spirit is involved?

I remember reading something on some types of faes and how they love take electronic devices apart, but I never really approached the Faery Folk so I don't really know how I would go about testing this theory or how to put an end to this situation.

I feel like I should add that used to be able to occasionally see Faeries auras around the house in past, but it has been at least two years since it has ever occurred to me.

Opinions, random thoughts or advice?

I have had several of the same things happen...my ex re-wired my entire house and found numerous wiring issues...including things (ceiling fan in kitchen and wine refrigerator) that were on a breaker in the living room to name a tew. That said, he explained to me (he is a contractor, licensed electrician and home inspector) that too much electrical surge in one room can create a static charge and damage small appliances like laptops, cells and other toys...as well as create "mini" surges when you plug something into an outlet that is sharing wiring with another area. NOT sure if that is what is going on, and I know my explanation leaves a lot to be desired...but he had to dumb things down for me since I don't speak the lingo.

Although the timing is uncanny I think you should consider if you haven't already to talk to your neighbors if they had similar problems. Because if it is the wiring then it can effect just you. You might eve check in with your landlord if there has been complaints about wiring or at least have the wiring checked in your apartment. I suggest that instead of telling him straight out that you think there is something supernatural instead you should just explain how computers keep failing and if he/she doesn't believe you then show them in your apartment. Because wiring is a safety issue then the person will most likely check because of that. If all else proves negative and you are truly the only one affected/no bad wiring then I should consider it as being ghost or fairies.

In the meantime I suggest only using electronics outside when ever and if possible. As for the energy your are dispensing. If that is the case then this problem would be happening where ever you take your laptop, phone, and other devices.

I also am very in the broom closet about my practices, but the chance of me revealing to a perfect stranger that I think my apartment is a supernatural hotspot is not very likely.

Perhaps you just had defective equipment. My husband recently built himself a computer, and we went through three (yes, THREE) motherboards before we got one that wasn't defective. And we ordered reputable brands with good recommendations from NewEgg.com (which is a very reputable online electronics retailer).

To steal a bit from Freud, sometimes a fried laptop is just a fried laptop. We often want to see reasons in something so hard that we invent connections where there actually are none.

Having said that, if you really think there's something paranormal going on at your place, start a journal. Every time something weird happens, write it down. Date it, and be thorough in your descriptions.

Once you've done that, then you've got some accurate reference material to start investigating, and real patterns might emerge. Or it might show that everything is a coincidence, and you're connecting them in your mind because people look for reasons for things.

That's a good plan for figuring out what's going on, even if the cause is something mundane.
