Mass Effect 3
So, there's already a Mass Effect thread, but it's kind of old, so....
Is anyone playing this right now? Without spoiling anything, IMO the writing is fantastic, there's some great storytelling in this game. Also, it made me cry....a few times....and I'm not even finished the game yet.
However, I would also like to say that I think the in-game journal is terrible. Why does it not update me on the progress of my quests? Why doesn't it let me set one as "active" like every other RPG? WTF BioWare?
Oh well, journal and the fact that when I complete five side events another ten pop up (the completionist in me is splitting hairs), the rest of the game is amazing. I can't believe I was planning on waiting until it dropped in price. Bad Loka, bad!

Re: Mass Effect 3
We're deeply wrapped up in it at this household as well. We've shouted, cried, laughed, cheered...
The Space Hamster is alive and well and living in Engineering!
I share your disappointment with the mission log. It taxes my memory more than I'd like. But it's a quibble. This is Mass Effect, the final and ultimate version, and it's gorgeous and immersive and great.
DO ALL THE SIDE MISSIONS. Every little bit of Reputation and resource added adds to the final readiness for the inevitable confrontation.
I love the fact that one of the Engineers casually mentions his husband... it's just part of the fabric of the game, not a Big Deal.
Off to whack Reapers!

Re: Mass Effect 3
I was terrible at this in the previous games, I'd end the game with a pile of fetch quests. I'm going a little crazy this game, my reputation is close to max and my resources are well past minimum, but THOSE BARS MUST BE FILLED! GAAAAAH!
Cortez is awesome, but I'd cheat on Liara for Traynor.I love the fact that one of the Engineers casually mentions his husband... it's just part of the fabric of the game, not a Big Deal.
I've found blowing up an Atlas mech with one shot from a missile launcher to be very satisfying, but I can't wait to do horrible things to the Reapers.Off to whack Reapers!

Re: Mass Effect 3
ARGH! The ending of this game must DIE!!!!!!!!!!!
*takes a deep breath*
I'm wondering if the other ending is any better but am debating playing through again...and I never debate a second play through of an ME game.
I don't know whether I should be upset at Bioware or EA.Fluid Morality - my spiritual blog

Re: Mass Effect 3
I loved it, absolutely LOVED it, until the last ten minutes. I'm sure you've read/heard the rumors about the ending. BUT don't let that stop you! It's still a fantastic game. Bioware has already announced additional content this summer to 'flesh out' the ending. I'm not sure what or how they're going to tweak things but apparently the core will remain. We'll see. I still enjoyed the game and LOVE the multiplayer which is a huge rarity w/me. Probably 'cause it's not PvP.
