    I'll have to check that out

    I think I have found the problem ....
    Sifting through the Documents and Settings folder, I found that something called "mobmap.exe" was added at about the right time.
    There seems to be some debate about whether it is a Trojan, but I don't play Warcraft, so why would it be there?
    And, my system seems to run much better without it

    If you don't need it and you system runs better without it, then removing it is always a good idea.
