Glad to help! I just remembered that some stones even contain droplets of liquid inside them. Mostly quartzes (usually called "enhydro" crystals), and they're usually pricey and really hard to find.

This isn't a stone per se, but what about coral for water? (Although I have no idea how easy it would be to get, unless you live near a beach, or know someone who does.)

Oh! Black opals are beautiful. Some of them kind of look like they're full of stars. I wish I could afford one, but they are kind of expensive.

Haha, that makes amber like an everything stone. Although just about the first thing I think of in relation to amber is Jurassic Park. xD

Chaos makes me think metamorphic - granite or marble. Something changed and changing.
I hadn't thought of that. That's an interesting idea.

That's really quite neat. Although I like the idea of my Water rock being one where water is integral to its make-up, like the apophyllite, and others you mentioned originally.

That does make sense, and it crossed my mind, but I feel an intuitive 'that's not right' about coral. Maybe because it's not a rock, exactly, or maybe for some other reason I can't pin down. But I'm inclined to listen to that intuition.

I was talking about this with my boyfriend, and he pointed out that a stone representing Order really ought to be a crystal, as crystal structures are very much ordered. That makes too much sense for me to ignore, much as I want an excuse to buy myself some lodestone (because I think naturally magnetic rock is pretty neat). So I've decided to use some clear quartz for Order instead. Quartz is kind of neat anyway for how much its used in science and technology, as well as how prevalent it seems to be for magical and metaphysical things.

I've also been thinking that for Chaos, I could use some agate, at least until I find something better. Along with the fact that I happen to have some (I used to live in a city with an agate mine), it's a bit of a mixture of two different kinds of rock. The agates have quartz, probably amethyst (the city also had an amethyst mine) crystals inside them. A rock mixture strikes me as more chaotic than a single kind of rock. Although I do have a feeling there's something better I can use; I just have to find it.

And I ordered most of my rocks today, so I'm kind of excited for when they arrive in a few days.

I thought of shale, too, as a sedimentary rock formed when flowing water deposits sediment in thin layers--and it often has the ripple patterns you might expect at the bottom of a river, like the motion of the water is printed in it forever.
You might also consider something like sandstone, or limestone--limestone is, after all, formed from materials that were once the remains of corals and other sea creatures, often contain fossil marine life, and, in general, used to be at the bottom of seas.

I think you have great advice already. I recently discovered Shungite online and it is possibly instrumental in life even being on earth, so maybe chaos? Anyway, I met some one who introduced me to crystal grids and it is pretty fascinating. You could exalt one or another element in the crystals, with perhaps a picture or an intention -- all on the shelf: http://crystal-cure.com/article-crystal-grids.html

That shungite is interesting, although I do find it weird (and kind of amusing) that googling it gets alot of sites claiming it will cure just about anything, and generally has amazing powers.

That crystal grid looks like an interesting idea, too. Thanks.
