    Rusty Athame

I have an athame that was stored for a long period of time in its leather case; when I "rediscovered" it, the case had stuck to it in a couple of places and it made rusty looking marks on the blade..is there any way to save it? If not, then would it be ritually inappropriate to use?
    Thanks!

Go to a gun shop and get some gun cleaner and a brass brush. From a drugstore, a small bottle of 90% Isopropyl Alcohol and some nitrile gloves

The cleaner is fairly noxious, so use in a ventilated room or in the garage, use the brass brush to clean. This stuff is designed to remove rust from the outside of the gun barrels as well as cleaning the remains of the gunpowder from inside

After cleaning, rinse with the Alcohol and dry with a soft cloth

A light coating of beeswax will help protect the blade from further degradation

Then maybe a ritual cleansing and re-dedication once the physical cleaning is done

Depends on the composition of the blade. If it's stainless, the marks could just be facial (assuming the rust came from the case). These can be cleaned off with a plastic scrubby pad.

Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
