Repeat cards
For years now I've been getting (from Crowley deck)
certain cards over and over again--7wands valour,
7swords futulity, 9swords cruelty. Once I won $80
In the lotto and did a reading right after I cashed
the ticket. I was so happy and shocked that I won more
than $4 I expected to see the Fool or 9cups covering
me. But no, 9swords again! Does this happen to
anyone else. I'm also thinking numberolgy plays into
this. I'm a nine life path and supposedly sevens and
nines are "toxic" to each other.

Re: Repeat cards
Nine of swords is mostly a sign of you mind torturing you that anything from the "outside" world. In case of lottery ticket I would suggest some anxiety about what to do with the money you've won, perhaps even something in a form of self-fulfilling prophecy, now that you begin to worry about what the card may signify to you.
Also, depending on how often you get those repeated cards, the mathematical probability of such an event may actually be not that small.

Re: Repeat cards
And the more cards in the reading, the more likely you will have repeat cards over time using that layout (or other layouts with similar numbers of cards). If you keep a complete record of your readings, you can go back and actually count all the cards that repeat in readings and how many times they repeated to see if these cared are actually repeated much more than other cards are repeated (as you are more likely to remember cards you like or otherwise considered important/noticable more than repeating other cards).

Re: Repeat cards
Yes I do keep a log but I've never really gone back
to count. I have gone back when l' ve gotton one
of the cards in what I believed to be the position
as a former reading. I've also had other cards
repeat for awhile and the stop but not those three
They're like freaking herpes.

Re: Repeat cards
I agree I like to use the basic five card spread solely because it is easier for me. No doubt I do get repeat cards. That is all due to chance and probability. I hardly see any reason to co relate your number and the tarot cards.
As for my view of tarot cards I like to use them more for guidance/clarifying and the rest is up to me. If it says I will be prosperous that will only come true if I make it true and vice versa. btw that was just an example.R03e
