About the Neo-Druidry SIG (Special Rules)
The Neo-Druidry SIG is a druidry-oriented board focused on neo-druidry and related subjects, including contemporary druidry organizations, such as Ár nDraíocht Féin (ADF); the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids (OBOD); the Henge of Keltria; the British Order of Druids (BOD); the Reformed Druids of North America (RDNA), and other similar organizations. The purpose of this SIG is to foster a community for those who are members of or interested in neo-druid organizations.
You will have a better experience here if you keep the following guidelines in mind:
- This SIG is intended for the discussion of modern religious practices; we are not attempting to duplicate an ancient Celtic religion. If you have problems with this idea, this is probably not the SIG for you.
- While the ancient druids existed primarily within Celtic cultures, neo-druidry -- as practiced by some individuals and organizations -- is not limited to Celtic cultures. Therefore, related discussions of other Indo-European cultures, in addition to Celtic cultures, is allowed.
- Unlike most of the religious SIGs here on TC, this SIG is not a reconstructionism-based discussion area. Although we wholeheartedly embrace Unconfirmed Personal Gnosis (UPG) and non-primary or non-scholastic secondary sources, we also strongly encourage the use of primary source material or scholastic secondary material. Because the ancient druids did not leave many written records of their religious practices, we must rely on academically sound research in areas such as archeology, art, mythology, history and comparative religion. If you are using UPG or questionable modern sources, please state that up front in your posts.
