Transitioning some social groups to SIGs?

It seems to me that aside from safe space groups like the kink and spirituality etc many of the social groups might work better as SIGs instead. It would help bring interesting topics to the main board while providing a small community group vibe as well. I mean, as it stand IDK if people searching for say Manannan information will hit on the Social Group regarding him, alternately visitors to the board may not think to look at the social groups tab for such information.

Which ones did you have in mind? A group would either need to be very active or of wide interest to be a SIG -- at least as they are set up now.

Some SIG negatives: Social Groups have features that SIGS do not (e.g. calendars, group picture area, wiki area) that can not really be added to SIGs.

Conversion issues: Messages in Social Groups cannot be moved to the main board so if a Group moves to a SIG the old group messages would be lost.

Note: this is not saying "no" just listing possible issues. Decisions would have to be made on a case by case basis.
