    Druidry Library?

Just an idea. What if we post all of the books in our present library related to druidry. I only have two Maybe get a book compendium going?

"Principles of Druidry" - Emma Restall Orr
"The druid magick handbook" - John Michael Greer.

I do not know if this counts but:
"The herbal handbook: A users guide to Medicinal Herbology" - David Hoffman

I have a few more books not totally related in on my over all library,How ever that is what I have pertaining to druidry.

I'm curious about both of these, I have the Greer book on my kindle but haven't gotten to it yet. When you finish the Restall Orr book would you mind doing a review on the review thread? I'm quite curious about her work as she's closely associated with OBOD stuff but I haven't had a chance to investigate her work before.

Sure, Also I meant to say sorry about posting this thread when we have the review thread though I do suppose having both of them in not a bad idea since this one can be just a quick reference and the other could be more detail. donno. Either way. I will be glad to post a review (Or learn how lol)

I like Greer so far from the few pages I have read since I kinda toggle them but the Principles of Druidry by Restall is going to be a quick read.

Meh no need to 'apologize' it makes sense to have a looser discussion thread along side a 'reviews' thread so to speak though I imagine both will be useful

I look forward to seeing your thoughts on both books

I'll go ahead and list my 'druidy' books as well though I've barely dented a fair few of them and one or two aren't necessarily strictly Druid/ic.

Pagans and the Law by Dana D.Eilers - I read this a few months ago and have hung onto it as it is chock full of sound advice regarding civil law in general as well as some very sage and sound advice specifically tailored to Pagans that may be afraid of legal actions regarding custody, divorce, employment etc.

Healing Wise by Susun Weed - an interesting book. It isn't especially comprehensive - focusing on about a dozen plants - the author seems to have an excellent grasp and relationship with the plants she works with. Further it has some methods in the rear of the book regarding preparation of herbs/plants. As always before using or making any herbal concoction it's advisable to consult with medical personnel and check your data. The copy of the book I have is from 1989 so a fair amount of the information ought to be double checked at the least. I suspect anyone not in the Northern hemisphere may find a dearth of useful plants.

Herbal Rituals by Judith Berger - Its layout is divided by months, the author discusses aspects of the month (for instance July is a month of thriving) and describes rituals and things she enjoys during the month then slips in a few recipes for teas etc.

Celebrate the Earth: A Year of Holidays in the Pagan Tradition by Laurie Cabot and Jean Mills - Similar in structure to Herbal Rituals this book focuses on the eight High Days. My copy dates from 1994, there is a definite Wiccish bent but overall the book is useful and occasionally inspirational, includes garb suggestions, rituals, spells, herbs, incense/oil recipes, and food and drink recipes for each holiday.

The rest I'll list are more specifically Druid focused though I haven't gotten around to doing more than dipping into them. Some, such as Bonewits', Ellison's and Ellis' works are non-academic and in at least one case fairly outdated (for instance in Bonewits' book 99% of the weblinks no longer exist and even some of the orgs have faded away or become inactive).

Blood and Mistletoe: The History of the Druids in Britain by Ronald Hutton (really looking forward to this one)
    The Druids by Stuart Piggot
Gods and Heroes of the Celts by Marie-Louise Sjoestedt
The Druids by Peter Berresford Ellis
The Solitary Druid: Walking the Path of Wisdom and Spirit by by Skip Ellison
Bonewits's Essential Guide to Druidism by Isaac Bonewits

There are more titles on my Kindle but I've barely gotten around to dipping into most of them so I'll leave them off for now. If anyone is interested I can do more in-depth reviews of the books I *have* read and post them to the review thread.

Ugh, same here. I'll have to round them all up and post. Might cause a few allergies with all the dust.

*mutters apologies and goes to look for a dust broom*

    Here is mine...

The Druidry Handbook - by John Michael Greer
The Modern Day Druidess - by Cassandra Eason
Living Druidry - by Emma Restall Orr
Living With Honour - Emma Restall Orr
Principles of Druidry - Emma Restall Orr
Druid Mysteries - Phillip Carr Gomm
What Do Druids Believe? - Phillip Carr Gomm
A Druids Herbal for the Sacred Earth Year - Ellen Evert Hopman
A Druids Herbal of Sacred Tree Medicine - Ellen Evert Hopman

Most are very beginner, however some can be used over a lifetime as reference such as the two herbal books, the Druidry Handbook and Living With Honour.

It resembles mine. I've read about... 3/4 of these books, though I only own a smattering. So, I guess I really should say that it resembles my mental library.

But rest assured, in terms of sheer quantity, you totes win. :D

I buy books on Druidry like other people buy bad romance novels - they're my naughty indulgence. I have some others that I didn't list (because I definitely wouldn't recommend them) that I got just on a whim, because I have a visceral urge to buy anything with "Druid" in the title. Seriously. I am a total sucker.

Recently I've started to move away from Pagan-specific books and look more into deep ecology and eco-philosophy, so I have a ton more of those books that I would probably also list as being essential to my "Druid" library... but I know not everyone is as obsessed as I am.
