sensing/feeling energies
I'd love to develop my ability to sense energies. Energies from people, places, things. Can anyone suggest any methods or useful resources?

Practice. I know that sounds too basic, but it's the truth. Go to a park, concentrate on what you feel around you. Do the same at a lake, at the grocery store, in your own home. It helps if at first you don't have any pressing obligations around, like children that are awake or a pet on a leash.

Re: sensing/feeling energies
This is the beginning focus of a current book I'm reading,The Inner Temple. You start off feeling your own personal energy, then feel the energy of another, and then the Earth and sky.
The exercise I did with my husband was actually quite fun. It was about pushing and pulling with your energy and even though he isn't particularly spiritual he was definitely amused at how he could feel my push and pull.
Channeling earth and sky energy is actually quite invigorating and makes you feel...alive.I still have a lot of work to do in this area, though.

Re: sensing/feeling energies
I know it's been a while since anyone commented on this topic. I am better at feeling my own energy than someone else's. I actually first learned to feel my own energy when I was pretty young, and I learned from a Tai Chi instructor my elementary school brought in to teach us.
I hold my hands close together, and focus on the space between them. After a while I can start to feel the connection as energy flows from one to the other. By slowly changing the distance between them, I can feel the energy stretch or compress. It is a tangible tactile sensation.(/|\) Fire in the Head: My Blog on Matters Spiritual, Political, or otherwise important to me.

Re: sensing/feeling energies
I wish I could. I honestly can't remember ever not being able to sense energy, it's just another sense to me. The best I can say is be mindful and be open to the experience. For me the perception is a blend of sight/touch/sound. I know that sounds odd but it's the best I can offer. Most of the time there's pressure, sometimes heat and occasionally tingling. Overlaid on that is the image of where the energy is but I'm not seeing it with my physical eyes, though I feel the other sensations with my physical hands. Sometimes I even close my eyes to get a clearer picture. Rarely I'll hear the energy like you would a sub-audible sound such as a truck that pulled up on the street outside. The nearest experience I can think of would be feeling the heat radiate off the tarmac on a hot summer day and seeing the heat shimmers with it.
There's also a fuzziness to the boundary, i.e. it's not like a soap bubble with a clear boundary it's more like how light from a lone candle fades the farther you get from the source. The closer you get to the source the stronger the sensations.
I've found that people don't necessarily perceive energy the same way. Even the same source is sensed differently. To that end, be open to what you experience, perhaps keep a journal and look for commonalities. Do you have a friend who can sense energy? If so, working with them will really help if you can compare notes and get a feel for how you perceive energy. Like I said, you may not experience it the same way but being able to compare where/what you feel helps to clarify your perceptions.
Maybe start with stones or crystals if you're drawn to them? They radiate pretty consistently and you can even use a pair of dowsing rods to cross check yourself. Where the rods cross is pretty much where the crystal's field is. Just make sure you point the rods directly at the stone on the same level as the stone or you won't get a clear response.
That's the best I can say at the moment. Feel free to ask questions if you like. I'll do my best to answer them.Reality is but perception.
