Re: What's your favorite holiday?
I absolutely LOVE Halloween (or what I now call Samhain)! It has always been my favorite holiday. When I was a kid, my dad used to make these huge paper mache monsters (everything from goblins and ghosts to giant Frankenstein monster type figures) that he and his 5 brothers would wear in the annual Halloween parade in our little town. Then we would go back to my grandparents house and have a scary stroll through lantern lit woods and celebrate with spooky stories while sitting on hay bales around a big bonfire in a clearing. We did the whole bobbing for apples, hayrides, etc. party with the community. It was great! I have never NOT known Halloween to be fun!

Re: What's your favorite holiday?
Yule/Winter Solstice is by far my favorite. We get so much snow here that often times we are literally stuck at home on Yule, it forces us to slow down & enjoy what we have
There's something so indescribably magical about standing outside, looking around & realizing that there's no noise, no movement, no anything except you & mother earth. The only time I can get that is the dead of winter

Me too. There's a particular energy around this time of year which I find really powerful. I also associate these days with feasting and cooking. The minute the temp starts dropping or a leaf starts turning I'm whipping up colcannon and biscuits.
I also really enjoy Beltaine. Besides its fertility aspects, this day is an excuse for me to drink Scotch neat and watch The Wicker Man. As if I needed an excuse.

My favourite holiday is Samhain, and close after this Yule! As a child I lovedd christmas, but I'm more in favour of the October/November celebrations now. When I was a child Halloween was nothing we've ever heard of, this is a new 'trend'. (I'm not as old, I'm just not american.) Instead every November 1st my family took me and my siblings to visit the graveyard to think of the dead. I've always liked this and when I became pagan and found out this is what this time is about, I kept it. (-:

Re: What's your favorite holiday?
I love them all, but my favourite would be the spring/summery ones, Bealtaine, Summer Solstice, and Lughnasad. These are my favourite seasons - I don't like being cold - and the burgeoning of life in spring makes me all tingly and light-headed, while the abundance of the ripening harvest in summer gives me a feeling of being blissfully held and nourished.
My rituals of those three festivals are the most joyful, energetic of them all, they're sexy, physical, and powerful. Accordingly, I had my own dedication on Bealtaine too years ago. It's a very special memory.

Oh, Samhain all the way!!! In fact, the whole month leading up to Samhain makes me giddy! The changing of the leaves, the first rains, oh, I love it! In our house we set up an altar and offer the first servings of our feast to the gods (along with any spirits needing a rest), and we invite all of our friends to eat with us and just make merry. We cook all kinds of foods like roasted chicken, squash and yams and apples-- So good! You can feel the energy from everyone there, and from the spirits around us. It's a really special time for me that I look forward to every year.
