The Cauldron: A Pagan Forum does its best to respect the intellectual property of others, and we ask those who use our forums, mailing lists, and publishing features to do the same. The Cauldron: A Pagan Forum may, in appropriate circumstances and at its discretion, remove any material which appears to be the intellectual property of others being used without permission.

Copyright Problems

If you believe that your work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement under US Copyright law you have two possible remedies, file an informal complaint (which will allow most problems to be resolved quickly and with no expense to you, unlike the notice requirements of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 [the "DMCA"] which can be expensive) or to file a formal notice under the provisions of the DMCA.

Informal Complaint: Use our Report Site Problem form or email copyrightissues07@ecauldron.com. In your report or email, simply explain the problem, exactly where the problem is located on our site, give us some good evidence to support your ownership of the copyright on the material you have a problem with (e.g. "This material appeared on pages 120-122 of my book entitled "My Book" copyrighted in [year] and published by [publisher]" or "This material is copied directly from material I wrote and published on the Internet, you can find it on my site at [url]"), and what you want done to correct the problem (e.g. material removed, proper credit given, etc.). While your informal complaint is not considered sufficent notice and information under the DCMA for The Cauldron: A Pagan Forum to make a decision, in practice (since we aren't lawyers) the situation usually can be resolved with a short exchange of emails if you use this informal procedure. And if we cannot establish copyright ownership or resolve the problem informally, you still have the right to file formal notice under the DCMA. (All copyright complaints The Cauldron has had in its five years of existence have thus far been quickly resolved by this procedure -- usually within 24 to 48 hours.)

Notice under the DMCA: If you wish to file formal notice under the DMCA, your notice must meet the current statutory requirements imposed by the DCMA; see http://www.loc.gov/copyright/ or consult your legal advisor for details. Because DMCA notice is a complex process, you may wish to consult your legal advisor before filing a notice. Also, be aware that there may be penalties for false claims made under the DMCA. To you can file a DMCA claim by email at dcma00@ecauldron.com. If you need to do so by physical mail, a mailing address can be obtained by requesting one from the above email address.
